Here’s what transpired on Friday night, which marked Week Seven.
Habersham Central 35, Winder-Barrow 21
The Raiders couldn’t have scripted a better start, as they ran out to a 25-0 lead on three turnovers and a couple TD runs by Donnie Warren along with a TD pass from Paris Wilbanks to JJ Rucker. MJ Dowdy and the Bulldoggs rallied with a TD run by Dowdy and a pick six before the half, but Wilbanks threw a TD to Jay Feltus in the third, and Camden Meads had a couple field goals to make the difference in a 35-21 final.
Elbert County 16, Commerce 6
The Tigers’ slide continues with a 16-6 loss at Elbert that pushes Commerce down to 0-6. Jace Lyle had a 90-yd TD run in the second half for the lone score.

#8 GAC 21, Dawson County 14
The Tigers held a 14-7 halftime lead but #8-ranked GAC stormed back to steal a 21-14 final. Cody McBrayer had both Dawson County TDs, and racked up north of 200 rushing yards.
#2 Jefferson 49, West Hall 6
The #2-ranked Dragons took a huge 49-6 win over the Spartans. Jefferson needed someone to step up at running back, and maybe that guy is CJ Hays. He had a TD run in the first, and Dalton Dye had a punt return for a TD to make it 14-0 midway through the first. Colton Grant followed a 55-yd pass to Logan Edmonds with a 1-yd rushing score, and Hays scored on a 5-yd TD run early in the second. Hays added a third TD run later in the quarter to make it a 35-0 game. The defense was unreal, holding West Hall to zero first downs in the first half. Boone Horn had a 15-yd TD run before the break, and Amire Barnes had a 2-yd TD in the third with a running clock. Taylor McCall was perfect on his kicks and kickoffs.

#4 Rabun County 62, Providence Christian 21
Rabun County is so back! The Wildcats ran up a 62-21 score at Providence Christian to move to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in region play ahead of next week’s showdown with Commerce. Reid Giles scored two straight TDs in the opening quarter, one from three yards and the other from 25 out. Lake Evans closed the quarter with a 2-yd TD. In the second, Ty Truelove threw a 42-yd TD to Reed Burrell to make it a 28-0 lead. Truelove then had a 9-yd TD pass to Hunter Giles to push the game to a 35-0 lead. With a running clock, Providence got on the board to open the second half. Truelove responded with a 7-yd TD run of his own, then threw a 3-yd TD to Reid Giles as the game reached 49-7. Cooper Kowalsky came in as a freshman backup, and threw a 15-yd TD on fourth down to Burrell early in the fourth. Fellow freshman Amir Thompson capped it off with a 1-yd TD.
Stephens County 24, Franklin County 20
The Indians pulled off a big upset with a win over undefeated Franklin County, 24-20 at The Reservation.
Lumpkin County 45, White County 14
The Indians beat the Warriors, 45-14 in their annual rivalry showdown. Nolan Matthews’ 45-yd TD run opened the game early, and Mason Hester later in the quarter found Martin Hulsey for a 15-yd TD. White County responded when Alex Freeman hit Gaines Clark for a 27-yd TD, and James Hart had a pick six just before the break to make it a 14-14 game. Wylder Flakes’ 32-yd FG early in the third put Lumpkin up for good, and Matthews’ 5-yd TD run late in the quarter opened it up. He added a 35-yd score in the final seconds of the third, and a 48-yd TD early in the fourth. Still not done, Matthews added a fifth TD on a 72-yd TD late in the game.

Dixie (SC) 27, Towns County 21
The Indians lost a 27-21 final at Dixie (SC). In heartbreaking fashion, Towns County had the ball on the 3-yard line with a chance to win when the clock ran out. Dustin Barrett threw a 40-yd TD to Kamden Mooney, while Alex Baert and Sam Sarafin each had rushing scores.
Lakeview FO 29, Union County 14
Union County had several turnovers that Lakeview capitalized on, as LFO won 29-14. Bentley Rich had a 6-yd TD run late in the second, and Hudson Collins’ 2PC made it an 8-7 game. Lakeview got a quick TD in response and never looked back. Rich added a second TD late in the game.
