Towns County pens a new chapter with Zeke Gribble taking over the softball program, as Clay Livingston leaves to coach football at Roswell. Livingston left a void at three head coaching spots – softball, wrestling, and girls soccer. Gribble has some pieces to work with, as Towns comes off a third straight playoff run.

PRESEASON INFO

2024 Record: 6-13; State RND 1
Head Coach: Zeke Gribble (1st Season)
Returning Starters: 6
Key Departures: Callie Drew Livingston
“She was one of our bigger hitters,” says Gribble. “She hit in the 4-hole for the last three years. She was outstanding at first base for us last year after moving there from third. She was a quiet but solid leader for our team and she always came through for us with big hits and solid defensive plays.”
Key Players: Scotlyn Fain (SS), Jaycie Cross (P/UTIL), Alaina Murphy (C), Chloe Sutton (CF), Alexa Keys (UTIL)
“With these players returning, we still have a solid defense up the middle with Alaina, Jaycie, Scotlyn, and Chloe. We return most of our key hitters as well with this group along with some timely hits from Alexa Keys. Looking for this group to continue to get better and have some big games this coming season. Reagan Rogers has decided to come back out and I feel she could give our team more power offensively while holding down our infield at first. We only have four freshmen coming in this year. Still not sure exactly where they will fit into this group but I do expect that they all could contribute big for us as we dive into the season – Reese Ingram, Ava Grey, Gia Gonzalez, Zoey Wilson. Hailey Rawdon (homeschool) has decided to join our team this year as well. I expect her to fit right in with this group and feel that she will contribute a good bit as we get into the season.”
Strengths: “We have a strong core group that have played together for four years now,” adds Gribble. “They have the mindset of wanting to win and they want to work. We have some strong leaders that don’t only push the new players but also themselves. Defensively, we have a very solid middle from catcher out to center field. For me this is big when it comes to creating a solid defense.”

“Looking to have a pretty good year, I expect this team to continue battling not just to get to the first round of playoffs but could possibly host in the first round,” adds coach Gribble. “We are going to have to play some really good softball to do that but I feel that this team could do that. Myself and my coaching staff are going to give them every chance to have that success, if they will just take a hold of that then I feel that we could surprise some people this coming season.”
