Jefferson senior Michael Roberts had a handful of top-10 finishes at state, including winning gold in one event. He’s now the BLITZ Track & Field Athlete of the Year!

Michael Roberts had a stellar season, earning a pair of region titles and winning state in the 400 as well. He was 3rd at state and won region in the triple jump, and was 10th and 3rd, respectively in the 200. His 400 PR was 48.05, while his PR in the 200 (22.28) and triple jump (48-3.75) was fantastic.

1st place votes: 5 pts; 2nd: 3 pts; 3rd: 2 pts; 4th: 1 pts; 5th-6th: 0.5 pts; 7th-8th 0.25 pts

Michael Roberts secured five 1st-place tallies to claim Athlete of the Year honors, holding off incumbent Wyatt Windham (3 1st-place votes). Colton Land also had three top votes, and Ryan Anderson one.

Roberts becomes the fourth Jefferson athlete to claim the award, the most for any school. Seniors have dominated the awards, 11 in total, and being a primary sprinter, he’s one of six to earn it.
