Several local teams made the tournament. Five made the Sweet 16, and now only four are in the Elite 8. Here are those results.

CLASS 5A

#1 Newnan 2, #3 Habersham Central 1

The Raiders dropped a hard-fought game one, 2-1 in 12 innings, but rebounded with a beautiful 4-2 win to even the series and send it to a decisive game three. In game three, it was tied 2-2 going into the sixth when Newnan scored four unanswered to win the series. That marks the end of the road for Hab Central in its best season ever.

CLASS 3A

#4 Troup County 2, #21 Jefferson 0

The Dragons lost 9-3 and 5-4 in a 2-game sweep at Troup County, ending Jefferson’s season.

CLASS 2A

#12 Franklin County 2, #13 Stephens County 0

Franklin County took the series with 4-3 and 2-1 wins, both thrilling 1-run contests. That ends the season for Stephens County.

GIAA CLASS 4A (ELITE 8)

#9 Stratford 2, #8 Tallulah Falls 0

Stratford stole game one before a blowout in game two ended Tallulah Falls’ season.
