Throughout the football season, we will recognize a Defensive Player of the Month (Fan Vote winner and BLITZ pick) for each 4-week span. The Defensive Players of the Month for Weeks 1-4 are Dustin Barrett (Towns County) and Kelan Butler (Jefferson). Barrett won the Fan Vote with 17,038 of the 53,110 total votes. Butler was the BLITZ pick.

DUSTIN BARRETT – TOWNS COUNTY

Dustin Barrett has been getting it done on both sides of the ball. The junior DB racked up 18 tackles (2 for loss), and picked off 3 passes. He had a defensive TD as well. This is his fourth BLITZ award.

KELAN BUTLER – JEFFERSON

Kelan Butler’s pass rush has been fantastic. The senior Georgia State commit has been a key staple on the #1 Dragons’ defense. Through the first 4 weeks, he has 22 tackles (3 TFL) and 4 sacks. He has a relentless motor and disrupts the QB consistently.
