The BLITZ Football Players of the Week are Kamden Kendrick (Union County), Tripp Nix (White County), and Rett Hemphill (Jefferson). Kendrick won the Fan Vote with 9,111 of the 24,621 total votes. Nix and Hemphill were the BLITZ Picks.

KAMDEN KENDRICK – UNION COUNTY

The Panthers needed a win in a big way, and Kamden Kendrick, even as a freshman, led them to it. The Union County QB, donning #17 (a big number for QBs in Blairsville – Pierson Allison, Caiden Tanner), threw for 222 yards and 4 TD, completing 13-of-17 passes. This is his first POW award. Fun fact. North Georgia News Sports Director Todd Forrest points out that Kendrick’s 222 passing yards is the most for a Union County freshman QB, surpassing Shaun Conley (1982). He’s also only the third freshman starting QB in that span.

TRIPP NIX – WHITE COUNTY

White County was desperate for a victory. Tripp Nix, who was injured in the season opener against Rabun, got a quick BYE week, and then eased into it at Habersham. But this game was the Tripp Nix we’re all used to seeing. In the Warriors’ blowout 55-27 win against #10 East Jackson, Nix went 21-of-37 passing for 342 yards and 3 TD. He rushed 11 times for 66 yards and 3 more TDs, giving him a 6-TD performance and 398 total yards. This is his second career POW award. Nix is officially the 2000th all-time BLITZ Player of the Week!

RETT HEMPHILL – JEFFERSON

Perhaps no one made a difference quite the way Rett Hemphill did in the Dragons’ win over #2 Stephens County. The senior had 130 total yards of offense between rushing and receiving, had 3 TDs. He had 3 carries for 73 yards (24.3 yards per tote) and 2 scores, and 2 receptions for 57 yards and a TD. He had 8 tackles (1 for loss), a sack, an interception, and a fumble recovery! Are you kidding me?! This is his second career POW award.
