The Lady Cats earned a fifth consecutive playoff appearance last season, and were ranked #10 in the state for a bit, marking their first ranking in over a decade. The 15 wins was the most in nearly 15 years, and Rabun County won a game in the Super Regionals. Coach Wesley Satterfield hands over the program to incoming coach Jessica Evans, who hopes to continue the trend of playoff success.

Head Coach: Jessica Evans (1st Season)
2023 Record: 15-11; State Supers (1-2); #10 State Ranking

Returning Starters: 5
Key Returners: SR C Chloe Erlewine, SR CF Jacie McCall, SR OF Hailey Harvey, IF Presley Burrell, IF Chloe Shirley, C/3B River Evans
Key Departures: Christina Keller, Mili Watts
“Five total Seniors on the 2024 team,” says Evans. “They already show great leadership and have really worked this summer. They continue to set the standard on and off the field and excited about their leadership. Chloe Erlewine, Jaycie McCall both return with solid sticks and will hold down our infield and even see time in the circle. We also look forward to seeing Hailey Harvey keeping the outfield on lock down and working the top of the hitting lineup. We have some extra hard hitters and important returners such as Presley Burrell and Chloe Shirley which will help with keeping the ball defensively in the infield. We have many young returners that have made their way from JV to Varsity that have made an impact right from the start. New freshman transfer River Evans will really help with hitting depth and working behind the plate and getting time at third.”

Team Strengths: Senior leadership. McCall and Erlewine have north of 50 RBI and are solid offensive pieces to build around, and are senior veteran leaders.

“Our goal this year is to “Be Intentional,” adds Evans. “Be Intentional in everything we do and get 2% better everyday. These Wildcats are working hard and building team chemistry each day. Our goal is to make the state playoffs and change the softball culture here in Rabun. We have people in place from the middle school up, we have parents and athletes buying in; we also have community support. We are excited about the future here in Rabun.”
