Lumpkin County is on the heels of its best season in school history. The Indians won their first region title and went 12-0 until falling in the Quarterfinals at home. 3-star QB Cal Faulkner is back, and several key playmakers return as well. Some guys are taking up new positions or roles, but there is depth and a real feeling that they can win each game.

Head Coach: Heath Webb (3rd Season)

Personnel & Schemes

Key Departures: Mason Sullens, Will Wood, Harper Davenport, Preston Cox, Luke Evans, Nate Gilleland

Returning Starters: 6 on offense, 6 on defense

Key Returning Players: Cal Faulkner, Nolan Matthews, Gerald Walker, Jr, Jacob Garmony, Trent Mobley, Connor Greilich, AJ Scott, Mike Nichols

Up & Coming Players: OL/DL Jacob Baloga (Rabun transfer), WR/DB Trent Mobley (started on D last yr and will make an impact at WR), Colton Lee (WR/DB), Mason Hester (backup QB that has become a good WR), Mike Nichols (LB), Nolan Matthews (moving from WR to RB), Rylan Armstrong (LT)

Offense: Multiple Spread

QB Cal Faulkner (Georgia Tech commit) will lead the attack as a true dual threat. Nolan Matthews, one of the top receivers last year, will transition to RB and get the bulk of the carries. Trent Mobley will be the featured receiver.

Defense: Multiple 3-4.

Expect big things from LB Mike Nichols, DE Connor Greilich, and S AJ Scott.

Trenches: “We’re deeper than we’ve ever been but the experience level is a bit lacking,” adds Webb. “We will have 6-7 guys freely rotating on the DL and there will be no drop-off when we do. OL is coming together nicely. This is a very talented group that just needs to gel together.”

Strengths & Areas of Focus

Strengths: “Confidence and belief that we can win,” says Webb. “DL. Backfield combo of Cal and Nolan.”

Focusing On: “We lost 3 OL and 3 LBs that played a bunch of ball for us,” states Webb. “We’ve got to get their replacements up to speed quickly.”
