The Tigers had a rough go at it last season, putting up a 2-8 record. It’s worth noting that early struggles led to some personnel changes, and metrics improved the remainder of the campaign. There appears to be an influx of young talent coming in, so Dawson County should be much improved this time around.

Head Coach: Sid Maxwell (10th Season)

“Our goal is to be competitive in each game as we gain playing experience throughout the season,” says Maxwell.

Personnel & Schemes

Key Departures: Dom LeBlanc, Sawyer Bearden, Braden Crane, Colton Schuette, Alex Stewart

Returning Starters: 1 on offense, 3 on defense

Key Returning Players: Preston Bannister, Luke Smith, Owen Wooten, Hunter Stroup

Up & Coming Players: Unknown

“We did not have spring ball with a majority of our players in baseball last spring, so it is tough to give you an honest evaluation of our upcoming players,” adds Maxwell.

Offense: Spread

Preston Bannister is the incumbent at QB, and is tabbed the starter by the team. Cody McBrayer will be the leading running back, and former RB Luke Smith moves to the top WR position. Behind Bannister will be Cash Watkins, so look for him to force his way onto the field at some point.

Defense: Multiple

Owen Wooten and Hunter Stroup are a couple of leaders on the defensive side of the ball.

Trenches: “We will struggle with depth with many players working on both sides of the ball,” says Maxwell.

Strengths & Areas of Focus

Strengths: “The young men have really worked well together this spring and summer during our weight workouts,” adds Maxwell. “So definitely team unity is our team strength.”

Focusing On: “Improving our speed and strength,” adds Maxwell.
