
Congrats to our 2023-24 Girls Basketball Player of the Year Finalists! We had 27 nominees. After careful consideration, we narrowed the finalist pool down to 6. The finalists are: Addison Hoard (Banks County), Lucy Hood (Rabun County), Averie Jones (Lumpkin County), Emma Lightsey (White County), Michel Robbins (Jefferson), and Abby Slaton (Dawson County).
Of the girls basketball players who didn’t make our finalist pool, select members are now up for a LAST FINALIST vote by you, the public. This voting is unlimited, and ends Friday at 10 AM. Following the ‘Last Finalist’ Fan Vote Winner, the finalist group will be voted on internally with a panel of up to 25 local media reporters, former GHSA officials, coaches, etc to determine the Basketball Player of the Year. The voting is Heisman-style.
