We had 9 local girls hoops teams in the state playoffs to begin with. 7 of them survived to play in the Sweet 16 – Jefferson, Dawson County, White County, Banks County, Union County, Rabun County, and Commerce. Here are the Sweet 16 results.

CLASS 5A

#2 Cartersville 66, #1 Jefferson 64 (OT)

The Lady Dragons had a heartbreaking end to the season in a 66-64 loss at home to Cartersville in a game that went overtime. Skyler Brady had 15 points, Emeri Billings 14, Delaney Dewitt 12, and Karlee Law 10. This ends Jefferson’s season.

CLASS 3A

#3 White County 66, #4 Franklin County 35

The Lady Warriors got it done at home in a dominant 66-35 win over Franklin County, as Emma Lightsey had 25 points and Kylie Watkins 13. Aaliyah Anderson had 11, as White County reaches the Elite 8 for the first time in 40 years!

#3 Hart County 48, #4 Dawson County 40

It wasn’t the ending Dawson County had hoped for in a 48-40 loss at Hart County, but the Lady Tigers fought down to the final second. Abby Slaton had a team-high 21 points, and Dawson held a lead until late in the game. This ends the Lady Tigers’ season.

CLASS 2A

#1 Banks County 43, #2 Model 29

The Lady Leopards earned a 43-29 win at home over Model. It was a 21-all game at the break after the Blue Devils posted a ridiculous 15-2 run, but Banks County buckled down and allowed only 8 points the rest of the game. Ryleigh Murphy had 14 points, Reese Murphy 9, Addison Hoard 8, and Ella Kate Shedd 6. The Lady Leopards advance to the Elite 8.

#1 Murray County 46, #2 Union County 41

It marked the end of the line for Union County in a valiant 46-41 loss at 1-seed Murray County.

CLASS 1A DI

#1 Rabun County 70, #3 Mt. Pisgah 57

The Lady Wildcats won 70-57 over Mt. Pisgah! Lucy Hood had 19 points, Mili Watts had 15, Adelyn Thompson 13, and Ellie Southards had 12. Rabun moves on to the Elite 8!

#1 St. Francis 78, #3 Commerce 38

The Lady Tigers’ season ends in a 78-38 loss at 1-seed St. Francis.
