Commerce won a low-scoring game at Tallulah Falls on Tuesday evening, 53-48, as the Tigers (8-14; 3-3 in 8-A DI) used 7 different scorers. The Indians (5-18; 1-5) were within a point early in the fourth, but ultimately couldn’t get the go-ahead bucket in the waning minutes.

TFS opened the game with a 5-0 burst, all coming from Stevan Gabric including a deep shot. Commerce surged back, as Maki Mitchell had a 3-pointer as well to tie the game up. Hudson Dudish had a go-ahead tray as part of an 8-0 run, and he added another before the end of the first. Commerce led 17-14.

In the second, Brian Neely momentarily put the Indians back in front, but another 8-0 Tigers run unraveled the TFS lead. Mitchell threw in a near halfcourt shot at the buzzer, which banked in for the 42-37 advantage.

Evan Peters got hot in the third for Commerce, notching a 3-point play to push the lead up to 10. A Dudish 3-pointer, his third, padded it. Hayden Bootle then brought Tallulah back, throwing down a thunderous dunk late in the third, then getting back-to-back baskets to start the fourth and make it a 42-41 game. Commerce again surged, this time using a 9-1 run to put the game away.

The Tigers were paced by Dudish (11 points), with Mitchell and Peters both coming in with 9 apiece, Mason Brown 8, Essien Lockleer and Tyler Sorrells 7 each, and 2 for Jackson Brown. Tallulah Falls got a game-high 17 points from Neyo Bain and 15 from Bootle. Zakhar Valasiuk had 6, while both Neely and Gabric ended with 5.
