Not many teams have the level of success Lumpkin County had last year AND return almost the entire starting unit. The Indians will seek history in 2024.

Head Coach: Brent Howell (2nd Season)
2023 Record: 8-6; State Rnd 1; #8 State Ranking

Returning Starters: 10
Key Returners: Nicholas Esqueda (1st team All-State and Region POY), Brauner Boegner (1st Team All-Region), Payte Rucker (1st Team All-Region), Jose Lopez (2nd Team All-Region), Wes Childers (2nd Team All-Region),Stephen Sherrill (Honorable Mention All-Region), Nate Gilleland (Honorable Mention All-Region), Jake Lloyd (Honorable Mention All-Region), Will Staples (injured last season), Gavin Grizzle, Jake Porter, Kyler Howell and Francisco Cruz.
Key Departures: Fabian Hernandez (Honorable Mention All-Region)

Team Strengths: “Big Junior/Senior classes that have lots of game experience under their belts,” exclaims Howell. “Returning 10 starters from last season is huge. Year 2 in our system will be big for us and we will have more depth than Lumpkin has had in years.”

“After last season’s 3rd-place region finish and making the State Playoffs for the first time since 2018, our expectations are high,” adds Howell. “We want to compete for the Region Championship and make a run in the State Playoffs. We are looking to take the next step in continuing to build a strong program year in and year out. We have huge numbers trying out so it’s very exciting to see those numbers for our program! Our non-region schedule is tougher but the guys have been working extremely hard in the summer and offseason and I am excited to see their hard work pay off!”
