
The 2023-24 GHSA Dual Championships are a wrap after a great weekend! Highlighting the success was Lumpkin County (3A) claiming a State Championship!

CLASS 5A – JEFFERSON
Jefferson got out to a great start with a team 69-11 win over Chattahoochee. A relatively easy 42-28 win over Jones County came next, getting the Dragons into the quarterfinals round. Cass edged out the Dragons 36-33, pushing Jefferson into the consolation bracket, where they took a tough loss to Woodland, Cartersville to finish in 4th Place.

CLASS 3A – LUMPKIN COUNTY
The Indians rolled to a State Championship. It was a smackdown of 84-0 over Dougherty in the first round, where after Lumpkin secured a 62-17 win against Morgan County to advance to the semifinals round. Franklin County wasn’t much of a road block, as Lumpkin took a 48-19 win to get into the championship match. It came down to the freshman phenom Aiden Marshall, but he got it done to give Lumpkin County a 34-33 thrilling win over Columbus to secure a state title!

CLASS 2A – BANKS COUNTY & UNION COUNTY
The Leopards and Panthers were both in the tournament. Banks County started out with a 56-24 win over Fellowship Christian before falling to Cook County, 39-35. In the consolation bracket, the Leopards then beat North Murray 58-19 and Berrien 53-24. They squared off with Union County after that. Union had a similar path – beating Berrien 49-25 to open up, then beating Landmark Christian 59-12 before running into a buzz saw of Toombs County, 45-33. In the consolation bracket, Union got to the round against Banks. The Leopards won 42-33, then beat Cook County in a rematch, this time by a wide margin of 49-23. That gave Banks County a 3rd-place finish.

CLASS 1A – COMMERCE
The Tigers took on St. Francis in the first round, taking an easy 55-17 win. Against Heard County, it was tougher but the same result for Commerce in a 48-23 win. Then came Social Circle, who handed CHS a 57-24 loss to push them to the consolation bracket. They took on Oglethorpe County and won 36-27 in a gritty match. A 58-17 win over Trion gave Commerce the 3rd-place finish.
