#3-ranked Towns County took all it could handle in a near upset Thursday at Tallulah Falls, but pulled out the 48-45 victory. TFS pulled ahead early in the fourth after trailing the whole game, and it took a go-ahead bucket by Kaleigh Beaver to secure the win for Towns.

Towns County (4-1) had a 7-0 run to open the game, and Scotlyn Fain had 3 triples as part of an 11-point quarter. Breelyn Wood had 8 of Tallulah’s 10 points in the quarter, as Towns led 19-10 going into the second. In the second, Tallulah Falls (1-2) got 8 points from Haygen James, as it was a 29-18 Towns lead at the break.

Fain had all 13 of her points in the first half. In the third, TFS mounted a comeback, using a 3-point play by Allie Phasavang and a couple trifectas by Molly Mitchell. Beaver got a basket at around the 3 minute mark, ending a scoring drought for Towns County that spanned 5 minutes. It was a slim 37-36 Towns County advantage heading into the final stanza.

In the final quarter, Wood and Adrijana Albijanic had early baskets to give TFS its first lead at 42-39. Towns County stormed back, as Laura Mauldin had a putback to tie it at 42. Beaver’s go-ahead shot came with 1:30 left in the game, and she had another with 13 seconds to go to cap the scoring.

Towns was led in scoring by Beaver with 15 points, while Fain had 13 and Brelan Sieveking 9. Mauldin added 6 and Emma Lallement had 5. Tallulah Falls was paced by Wood, who had a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards. James and Mitchell each had 9, Phasavang and Albijanic had 6 apiece, and Millie Holcomb closed with 3.
