The BLITZ Football Players of the Week are Davon Swinton (Stephens County) and Sammy Brown (Jefferson). Swinton won the Fan Vote with 1,632 of the 3,439 total votes. Brown was the BLITZ Pick.

DAVON SWINTON – STEPHENS COUNTY

It was a heroic effort by sophomore Davon Swinton in Stephens County’s second round loss to Wesleyan. The WR/DB caught 2 passes for 83 yards and a trip to the end zone. He added 27 kick return yards and a pick-six. This is Swinton’s first POW award.

SAMMY BROWN – JEFFERSON

Big players come up in big games. Sammy Brown didn’t disappoint, as he had the singular most impressive game we’ve ever seen for a 2-way player. Not only did the 5-star Clemson commit go for 350 rushing yards with 4 TD, but he added a 9-yd TD pass on offense. His TD runs went for 80 yards on the first play from scrimmage for Jefferson, then a 41-yd score. That was followed by 48-yd and 69-yd TDs. From the opening kick, he was bringing the wood on defense and special teams. He collected roughly 15 tackles, including a big interception and a couple tackles for loss. He even did the punting, and more than once helped pin Hiram deep. This is Brown’s 15th career BLITZ award.
