After the conclusion of the 2023 season for the Leopards, head coach Jay Reid has announced his resignation from the position at Banks County.

Reid announced his decision publicly via Twitter (X) on Wednesday morning. His statement reads as follows:

“For the last six year I have been blessed to call Banks County home and have been blessed by a tremendous FAMILY. It is with a sorrowful heart that I step down as Head Football Coach. When we ask the Lord for guidance in our future we never know how those prayers will be answered. When truly following that guidance we sometimes must make the most difficult decisions and say the hardest of farewells. To all of my players and coaches that I have wokred with over the years, I will miss you dearly and want you to all know that I am always a phone call away if you need me. To the Banks County community and administration, thank you for giving me the opportunity to lead this program and taking my Family and I in as one of your own. This place and you all will always hold a dear place in my heart. Go Leopards!”

Reid leaves Banks County after back-to-back seasons in which the Leopards started out at 4-0 before a tough second-half schedule kicked in. The Leopards went 4-6 in 2023. Reid took over the program in 2018, and collected a 19-42 record across 6 seasons. That includes back-to-back state playoff appearances in 2020 and 2021. Reid was the 15th head coach in Banks County history dating back to 1958.
