The BLITZ Football Players of the Week are Zay Minish (Jefferson) and Ryan Fowler (White County). Minish won the Fan Vote with 18,415 of the 47,539 total votes. In an epic battle of votes, he edged out White County’s Alex Johnson, who had 15 TKL, 2 TFL, and a Sack and had 18,208 votes. Great week by both of those guys. Fowler was the BLITZ Pick.

Zay Minish had 3 catches in the region title game win over Eastside. The senior made the most of those haul-ins from Gavin Markey, taking 2 of them into the end zone for TDs. In total, he had 3 receptions for 93 yards and a pair of scores. This is Minish’s first POW award.

RYAN FOWLER – WHITE COUNTY

Ryan Fowler has had a monster season. He emerged as one of the top running backs in the state. To that point, the last state leaderboard showed the senior from White County at 23rd in the state in rushing. That was prior to a 184-yd, 2-TD performance against Gilmer in a win-or-die for the Warriors. Fowler even had one big TD called by on a holding penalty that wouldn’t have even been needed. For the season, Fowler has 1,430 yards and 14 TD on the ground. This is his second career POW award.
