PRESEASON INFO

2022-23 Record: 16-12; State Sweet 16; Region 8-A DI Runner-Up
Head Coach: David Adcock (6th Season)
Returning Starters: 3
Key Departures: Jayton Henry, Mike Swager, Willie Goodwyn (3-star Cincinatti football player expected to enroll early)
Key Players: Cooper Welch, Huey Blalock, Jack Hood
“We will be returning 3 starters from last year – Cooper Welch, Huey Blalock, and Jack Hood,” says Adcock. “Cooper and Huey were both All-Region selections who are vital to our success in all aspects of the game. They are both very skilled and can score at all 3 levels. Cooper is a 6’4 combo guard who shoots the ball well and can control the game at both ends of the court. Huey is an explosive point guard that is going to have a breakout year. We have 3 more key guards that will play huge roles this year as well, Tristen Burrell (5’8, Sr), Michael Bone (6’2, Jr), and Reed Burrell (6’1, Fr). These 3 guards shoot the ball really well and are able to create off the dribble. We are really deep at the guard position and each one of them has the ability to score 15-plus any given night.  Our front court is going to be instrumental in our success this year both offensively and defensively, and is made up of Jack Hood (6’7, Sr), Trent Thompson (6’3, Sr), and Hayes Free (6’6, Soph). Jack is a very strong and smart post player who does a great job of rebounding and finishing around the rim. Hayes is a versatile player who can stretch the floor with his shooting ability and can also finish above the rim.”
Offense: “Uptempo Motion offense predicated on creating and exploiting mismatches,” adds Adcock.
Strengths: “Our strength will be our ability to move the ball offensively and play through everyone on the court,” says Adcock. “We have 6 players who have the ability to score 15 points any given night and this will put a lot of pressure on the opposing defense.”
Biggest Challenges: “Our biggest challenges will be improving defensively and learning to rebound as a team,” says Adcock. “We will also be relying heavily on younger players, and their development throughout the season will be imperative to the teams success down the stretch.”

“Challenge for a region title and make a deep run in playoffs,” says Adcock of the goals.
