The Panthers had a signature win over top-10 ranked Athens Academy, and the defense was front and center. Notably, junior linebacker Ethan Lester. He had 19 solo tackles and 24 total takedowns. He had 3 TFL, 2 sacks, and an additional QBH. This is Lester’s first POW award.

ZEKE WHITTINGTON – HABERSHAM CENTRAL

Habersham Central was in a must-win situation at Apalachee. Zeke Whittington came through clutch. The junior wideout had a career night with his first 3-TD game. He had 6 catches for 158 yards and 3 scores, averaging over 26 yards per reception. Whittington made history in the process. His 6 catches put him first in school history, passing the legendary Tavarres King. For his career, Whittington now has 210 receptions for 2,317 yards and 14 TD. He is second to King in receiving yards in a career, with a legitimate shot by the end of next season to surpass King’s 3,270. He’ll have a hard time with the TD catches mark, as King had 37 for his career. This is Whittington’s second POW award.
