#5 Lumpkin County 61, White County 55 (4 OT)
By far the craziest game of the year. Lumpkin County won 61-55, but it took 4 overtimes to remain unbeaten and stay in the driver’s seat for the region title. After scoring first on a Cal Faulkner TD run of 27 yds, Lumpkin appeared to be on its way to the same ole song and dance. But White County responded with a Tripp Nix – Cam Wilson 7-yd TD in the second. Faulkner’s 10-yd TD was then equalized by a Nix 5-yd plunge. Mason Sullens had a 4-yd TD, but then Nix found Gaines Clark for a 10-yd score to make it 21-21 at the break. Nix hit Isaiah Whitlow for a 66-yd TD to give White County its first lead, but Sullens’ 3-yd TD tied it up seconds later. Then Ryan Fowler busted free for an 82-yd TD to give the Warriors a 35-28 lead going into the fourth. With just over 4 to play, Faulkner scored from 8 yards out to tie it up. Neither team was able to win it in regulation, so it went to OT. In OT 1, Sullens scored a 1-yd TD, then Nix and Clark hooked up for a 13-yd TD. In OT 2, Nix scored from 4 yards out while Faulkner did it from 8. In the 3rd OT, Faulkner scored from 5 yards out, but his 2PC was just shy of the goal line. Nix found Wilson for an 8-yd score, but Nix was also just short on his 2PC. So we went to the 4th OT, where Faulkner picked off Nix, then Sullens ran one in from 5 yards out for the win.
#2 Jefferson 56, Loganville 20
The #2 Dragons remained flawless with a 56-20 win at Loganville. Sammy Brown had a 71-yd TD to tie the game on Jefferson’s first offensive touch. On the next Dragons play from scrimmage, Gavin Markey found Talan Childress for a 47-yd TD and the 14-7 lead. Brown got a 5-yd TD, while Justin Beatty had a big interception and Brown scored his third TD from 42 yds out to push it to 28-7 in the first. Markey found Zay Minish on a 45-yd TD in the second, and Brown added TD #4 from 17 yds out. Markey scored a rushing TD as it was 49-7 at the half. Mikey Roberts took the second half kickoff 93 yards for a TD and the 56-7 lead.

#5 Commerce 49, #4 Elbert County 21
The #5 Tigers are in the driver’s seat for Region 8-A DI. Commerce took a 49-21 win. Jaiden Daniels had a 5-TD performance, rushing for 4 and taking one kickoff back. On the game’s first play, he found pay dirt. He added another from 80 yards out just a couple minutes later. Elbert got on the board to cut it to 14-7. Tysean Wiggins got going too, and Daniels powered in for his 3rd TD to make it 21-7 still in the first. Wiggins had a 4-yd TD on an 8-plus minute drive, and Jacari Huff’s 85-yd TD made it 35-7 at the break. Daniels got another touchdown in the third late before Elbert added some points in garbage time.
