The fumble bug was plaguing #2 Stephens County early on, and White County was taking advantage. However, a 28-point third quarter and 35 straight points got the Indians a 56-26 win in Week 5. Javin Gordon scored 4 TDs in 3 different ways, and the Indians had a pair of pick sixes. The win was the 100th of the head coaching career for Wesley Tankersley.

Tripp Underwood got Stephens started out strong with a 56-yd TD pass to Jasec Smith. Tripp Nix retaliated with a 5-yd TD pass to John Phillips in the back of the end zone to tie the game. Stephens County fumbled on its next possession, but it didn’t come back to bite them. At the end of the first, Gordon took a punt at the 40 and weaved in and out of the defense for a 60-yd punt return TD and the 14-7 lead.

White County marched down the field, and settled for a 21-yd FG by Hayden Vandegriff to pull within 14-10. A costly Indians fumble then resulted in a 10-yd TD run by Nix, as White County pulled ahead 17-14. The ensuing kickoff was fumbled, and the Warriors again capitalized with a 28-yd FG by Vandegriff. That had the home team up 20-14.

Then Stephens County got hot. Gordon got a 5-yd TD in the final seconds of the half. With the ball to open the second half, the Indians wasted no time with a 57-yd TD from Underwood to Brock Tankersley. Around the midway point of the third, Stephens County would score twice within 11 seconds. First came a 1-yd plunge by Gordon for the 35-20 lead. On the next play from scrimmage, Nix was picked by Smith, who jumped the route and went 15 yards to the house for the 42-20 lead.

Gordon would later score on an 82-yd TD pass from Underwood to cap a 28-point third quarter. Ryan Fowler ended the bleeding for White County with a TD run to pull it to 49-26. Tankersley added a 63-yd pick six in the final quarter to put the game on ice. Stephens County remains unbeaten at 5-0, while White County drops to 2-2.
