For the 33rd time in 34 tries, Union County prevailed against rivals Towns County with a 49-3 Week 3 win in Blairsville. Since 1993, the Panthers have dominated the series, and that will hold for yet another year. It was 14-0 before Towns County even got an offensive snap, and the Panthers ran up a 35-0 lead after the first. They slowed it down in the second quarter, and had a running clock in the second half.

Braylen Rader scored on the opening drive on a 3-yd plunge. The ensuing kickoff was fumbled, and seconds later the Panthers struck when Caiden Tanner found Tyler Grasty for a 12-yd TD and the 14-0 lead. On the next drive, Union used a Tanner-to-Cade Dockery 35-yd TD to continue to pad the lead. The defense was suffocating, and had Towns County looking for inches instead of yards.

Just over a minute later, Tanner hit Rader on a short, wide-open toss to the end zone from 10 yards out. Still before the end of the first, Tanner’s 3-yd TD to Grasty put the icing on the cake at 35-0. For good measure, Rader had a 2-yd TD early in the second, and Tanner had one more TD pass to Connor Schuknecht from about 20 yards out. That 49-0 lead held to the break, and Towns County got its score in the fourth when Connor Chastain hit Morgan Walker on a 9-yd TD on 4th & Goal.
