Union County volleyball has a knack for playing its best volleyball once in the playoffs. It’s the culmination of playing tough competition throughout the season and seeking daily growth, then getting hot at the right time. The Lady Panthers are fresh off a Sweet 16, with a pair of Final 4 runs prior to that and Elite 8 the year before. This is still a young program that will seek consistency under 2nd-year head coach Megan Brown.

“While our 2022 season ended in the Sweet 16 with a loss to the State Champions, Mt. Paran, we hope to start the 2023 season with the same competitiveness and fight that we showed throughout last season,” says Brown. “While finishing top in our region would be our ultimate goal, growing, improving, and becoming stronger players on and off the court are goals we will strive for daily.”

“We lost 4 All-Region players – we will miss the leadership of these four, along with Presley Berry, Mattie Brookshire, and Haleigh Helcher,” says Brown.

Key Returning Players: S Lily Brookshire, MH Katelyn Brown, Charlei Robinson, Claire Colwell, Mallory Rouse

“Brookshire, Brown, and defensive specialist Robinson will be juniors,” says Brown. “We are looking forward to senior Claire Colwell and junior Mallory Rouse stepping in to fill key roles as well.”

“Though we lost several key leaders, we are looking forward to our younger players stepping up and filling some big holes in our lineup,” states Brown. “We’ve got a great group of girls with a lot of heart and a lot of fight! We have several talented freshmen entering the program, along with 9 returning JV players.”
