The Lady Indians won a grand total of 4 games last season, and found their way into the playoffs. Despite going 0-2 in the Supers playoff (new format last year), Towns County seeks to grow from that experience. This is one of the most experienced team Clay Livingston has had in Hiawassee. With nearly the entire starting lineup back, that should result in more wins.

Head Coach: Clay Livingston, 5th season
2022 Record:
4-16; Playoffs (Supers Round, 0-2)

“We made the playoffs for the first time in twenty years and only the second time in school history last year,” says Livingston. “We look to build on that and not only make the playoffs but be in a position to where if we play well, there is a chance to qualify for the Elite 8 in Columbus.”

Personnel

Returning Starters: 7

Key Departures:  Maddy Lewis

“We only had one senior last year in Maddy Lewis,” says Livingston. “She will be missed, a great kid and teammate. We also lost a returning starter who transferred schools.”

Key Returning Players: Laura Mauldin (C), Elizabeth Edwards (1B), Zoe Philips (2B), Hope Chastain (P/LF), Drew Livingston (3B), Scotlyn Fain (P/SS), Jaycie Cross (P)

Starting as many as 6 underclassmen the past two seasons apiece is hopefully going to pay off. Mauldin is back for what should be a stellar season, and Edwards and Livingston should again be leading contributors.

Strengths

Strengths: “Our biggest strength will be the same as usual, great character and work ethic,” states Livingston. “We have a couple who play travel ball, but most of our girls are multi-sport kids who will really get going in July with strictly softball. We plan to have them playing at a high level by the time region play starts and then hopefully be playing at our absolute best when the playoffs start.”
