The Dawson County volleyball program is still young, yet now established. Founded in 2016 under the direction of Tanya Porter, the Lady Tigers have won 121 matches, made the playoffs 4 times, won a regular season region title, been state-ranked 4 times, and made the Sweet 16 twice (with an Elite 8 appearance). Now Porter has stepped down and gives way to Audrey Goode as the program seeks to build off that great success. They’re off to a great start with a solid summer.

Head Coach: Audrey Goode, 1st season
2022 Record:
24-18; 1st Round; #5 State Ranking

“The girls have improved so much already over the summer and we expect to keep improving throughout the season,” states Goode.

Personnel

Returning Starters: 4

Key Departures: Abby Felkai, Kirklyn Porter, Abby Clouser, Emerald Sallee

That’s a stellar group of players, led by do-it-all Abby Felkai, who spent time at hitter and setter. That is a lot of production to replace.

Key Returning Players: L Hope Selzer, OH Meghan Roche, MH Maggie Allen, MH Eva Bishop

Of these, Meghan Roche is one of the top returners in the region. She put up 231 Digs, 163 Kills, and 67 Aces last year. She’ll be relied upon, as will sophomore Hope Selzer, Maggie Allen, and Eva Bishop. Selzer put up 39 Aces last year.

“We are a young team with some great talent moving up,” says Goode.

Strengths

Strengths: “Our biggest strength this year is going to be communication and teamwork,” adds Goode.
