Sammy Brown’s incredible recruitment period has ended with his commitment to the Clemson Tigers on June 5. For the nation’s top linebacker and 5-star recruit from Jefferson, he’s taking his talents to Dabo Swinney’s program.

Brown is the #1-ranked ILB in the Class of 2024, and is a 5-star by ESPN and 247 Sports, and Rivals has him as a 4-star. The 6-2, 230-lb athlete held roughly 30 offers, with Clemson beating out Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Colorado, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, LSU, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, NC State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin.

247 Sports has Brown as the top overall recruit in Georgia and #5 overall national recruit. ESPN has him as the #17 overall recruit in the country.
Brown last season rushed for 1,459 yards and 21 TD on offense, adding 246 receiving yards and 3 scores. He had 753 rushing yards as a sophomore while missing several games to injury, and had 11 TD. In his freshman year at Commerce, Brown went for 1,368 rushing yards and 14 TD, and had 181 receiving yards and 4 TD. Overall, he has tallied 3,580 yards rushing and 46 TD, and 439 receiving and 7 TD. He has a pair of kickoff returns for TDs and a fumble recovery TD. He’s obviously a beast on offense, but there’s a reason he’s being recruited on the other side of the ball.
Defensively, he had 103 tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception, and 2 PBUs last season for the Dragons. As a sophomore, he had 35 TKL, 3 TFL, 1 Sack, 1 FR, and a defensive TD.
