With the closing of the spring sports season, we give the final BLITZ Cup Standings. The BLITZ Cup is given each year to the school in our coverage area that accumulates the most points. Points are given for state playoff appearances, winning seasons, region titles, state rankings, playoff wins/deep runs, Player of the Week and Year awards, and more. The BLITZ Cup is a traveling trophy that resides with the winning school for an entire year until a new school wins it. Each winner is engraved on the trophy’s placard for each winner since its inception in 2009-10. For Tallulah Falls, it marks the first win for the school.

HISTORY OF THE BLITZ CUP

It all goes back to a state title in volleyball. The history made didn’t stop there though. Consider that both cross country teams made state as well, and in the winter the basketball teams advanced too. Swimming got a huge boost with a top-10 finish at state and an individual state champ in Madison Dampier. Then came spring, and the boys and girls soccer teams and boys and girls tennis teams combined for 3 region titles and 4 Sweet 16 or deeper runs. Girls track and field finished 10th and had a state-winning relay. Baseball made the playoffs, both golf teams were Area Runner-Up and made state (girls finished 5th at state), and Precision Rifle also had a top-10 state finish. Literally, every single team for TFS advanced to state, and 4 teams were region champs with another 4 as runner-up. All told, it was a banner year for Tallulah Falls, who takes the BLITZ Cup for the next year.
