On Friday, Lumpkin County officially named the new head basketball coaches for both the girls (Tess Wright) and boys (Chris Faulkner). After David Dowse resigned from Lumpkin following his team’s State Runner-Up finish, the school moved quickly to fill the role. Meanwhile, coach Michael Parker resigned following the boys team.
CHRIS FAULKNER – BOYS HEAD COACH
Taking over the boys team is Chris Faulkner, a former head coach at the University of North Georgia. Faulkner is a Lumpkin alum himself, and was a star player for the Indians. He then coached at UNG for 16 seasons from 2003-19, earning 7 conference titles. Faulkner is all Lumpkin County, as he played collegiately at UNG before coaching there.
TESS WRIGHT – GIRLS HEAD COACH
Tess Wright enters her first run as a head coach. She arrives from Calhoun, where she was the assistant coach for the girls team and also was a head tennis coach. Wright played at Calhoun before going to play college ball at Thomas University and Reinhardt, then went back to her alma mater to coach.
