
A tight first quarter gave way to a Rabun County blowout win Friday night in Tiger over Elbert. The Wildcats (10-8; 2-1 in 8-A DI) got in the win column for a second straight game with a 69-40 final over the Blue Devils (1-19; 0-4).
Both teams traded buckets for the first quarter, and Paul Picciotti got a layup to go just before the buzzer to tie the game at 11 apiece. A 3-point play by Jack Hood in the second was part of a 7-2 Rabun run that opened the game up. Huey Blalock hit a tray to push it up to 30-21, and Rabun held a 36-23 comfortable lead into the half.

The Cats didn’t let up, as Hood and Cooper Welch had big third quarters, as Rabun outscored Elbert 12-5 to take a 48-28 lead into the final stanza. From there, the Cats cruised to a 69-40 final.
Willie Goodwyn scored 15 points through 3 quarters of play, and finished with 17 along with 14 rebounds. Jack Hood added 11 points and 5 boards, and Cooper Welch had 12 points and 7 rebounds. Noah Legault tallied 7 points, Jayton Henry 6, Paul Picciotti 4, Huey Blalock and Blake Weber 3 points, 2 points each for Jarret Giles, Evans Palmer, and Mike Swager.
