There has never been more at stake when Dawson County and Lumpkin County squared off. The Tigers broke through with a monster second half after holding a slim first half lead. The 38-10 win for the Tigers (8-2) secured their first region title since 2015, while Lumpkin (7-2) looks to win next week to secure a #3 seed.

The Indians struck first on a 25-yd field goal off the boot of Will Staple. That score held through the quarter, and Dawson County got on the board when Davis Glass found Hunter Casserleigh streaking up the field for a 57-yd TD and a lead the Tigers would either hold or share the rest of the way.
Dom LeBlanc’s field goal before the half made it a 10-3 lead. Right out of the break, Lumpkin got new life when Cal Faulkner picked Davis and got in for the game-tying score. Not only did Dawson strike back, but the Tigers did it in the same way on a Kade Moledor pick-six to reclaim the lead at 17-10. Moments later, Kenny Nelson scored on a TD run after another interception, padding the lead up to 24-10. Elijah Smith scored on a rushing TD in the fourth to push it up to 31-10, and another pick-six put it well out of reach at 38-10.
