#1 Commerce Tigers (26-12) 2, #4 Emanuel County Institute (19-12) 1
The Tigers marched on to the state semifinals with a stellar comeback. After falling 4-2 in the opener, it appeared that ECI had the inside track. However, a crazy 17-10 second game in favor of Commerce forced a decisive, do-or-die game three in Commerce on Wednesday afternoon. The Tigers put up a two-spot in the first off the bat of Hampton Hutto. ECI retaliated with three runs in the second to take the lead, and ran it up to 5-2 with single runs in the third and fourth. Down three and getting late, Commerce rallied for a three-run fourth to tie the game. After holding ECI off the board in the fifth, the Tigers scored another three runs in the home half, earning the 8-5 win. Coy Argo had a pair of RBI, as did Brayton Purcell, as the duo had two hits apiece. Argo struck out five batters on the mound as well, going 2.1 innings.
