15 of our local programs made the state playoffs. Here are the recaps for each of the opening round games (or dates in which they will be played). Of the 5 girls games that took place on April 12, Commerce, Towns, Lumpkin, and Stephens all advanced to the second round. White County’s season came to a close. On April 13, Tallulah Falls and Commerce both fell in their opening-round action. On April 14, both Union County and Habersham Central girls advanced to the second round.

GIRLS SCORES

#1 Union County Lady Panthers (11-3-1) 10, #4 Therrell (6-6) 0

The Lady Panthers rolled to a 10-0 dominating win over Therrell in the opening round, kicking in the mercy rule just 54 minutes into the match. Lara Turner scored the first goal about 4 minutes in, as she finished with the hat trick.

#2 Jefferson Lady Dragons (10-3) vs #3 Hapeville Charter (2-8)

#2 Commerce Lady Tigers (18-1) 8, #3 Trion (6-8) 1

The Lady Tigers blasted through Trion in the first round to advance to the Sweet 16 for a second straight season. It was an easy 8-1 win for Commerce over the visitors, and they’ll stay home to take on #4 seed Montgomery County, who pulled off a massive first round upset.

#2 Lumpkin County Indians (15-3-1) 11, #3 Sandy Creek (7-10) 1

It was pure domination from the start, as the Lady Indians rolled past Sandy Creek in their playoff opener. When it was all said and done, Lumpkin won 11-1 to mercy rule the visitors and get into the second round.

#2 Habersham Central Lady Raiders (13-4) 1, #3 Kennesaw Mountain (8-9-1) 0

Habersham Central marches on with a big win at home over Kennesaw Mountain, by a slim 1-0 margin. The defense was outstanding, and one goal was all the Lady Raiders would need!

#3 White County Lady Warriors (12-5) 0, #2 GAC (12-3-3) 5

The Lady Warriors fell in quick fashion, 5-0 on the road at GAC to close their season. White County finishes at 12-5 overall.

#3 Stephens County Lady Indians (8-8) 5, #2 Ringgold (7-6-1) 0

Stephens County earned a clean sheet 5-0 win over Ringgold on the road to advance to the Sweet 16! The Lady Indians also got to .500 overall on the season with the win.

#3 Towns County Lady Indians (10-4) 1, #2 Armuchee (2-3) 0

The Lady Indians notched a stellar 1-0 clean sheet win at Armuchee, pulling off the upset to once again get past the opening round of the state playoffs.

#3 Rabun County Lady Wildcats (2-9) 0, #2 Pace Academy (12-6) 10

Rabun County’s season ended with a 10-0 loss at Pace Academy in the first round of state.

#4 Banks County Lady Leopards (3-10) 11, #1 Lovett (17-3) 0

Banks County dropped an 11-0 game against Lovett to end its season.

#3 Tallulah Falls (10-5-1) 1, #2 Fellowship Christian (9-4) 7

The Indians traveled to Fellowship Christian, and dropped a 7-1 final. It was 3-0 at the break before TFS got on the board in the second half with a Sean Lynes, Jr. goal. This ends Tallulah Falls’ season.

#3 Commerce (11-6) 0, #2 Drew Charter (9-1) 6

The Tigers got a clean sheet posted against them by Drew Charter, one of the top teams in the state. This ends Commerce’s season.
