The BLITZ Football Player of the Week Fan Vote collected 24,636 total votes, with Commerce’s Ivy Tolbert taking 11,126 to win the POW. BLITZ then named Jefferson’s Sammy Brown co-POW.
IVY TOLBERT – FAN VOTE

Making history in Week One was Ivy Tolbert. Being the first-ever girl to put on a jersey for Commerce football, she didn’t merely suit up. Mark Hollars sent her out for an extra point, which she made. Then came a 26-yard field goal that was good to help secure a 10-0 win over Banks County. This is Tolbert’s third POW award (2 in soccer).

SAMMY BROWN – BLITZ PICK

Jefferson’s Sammy Brown was dynamite in his first action for the Dragons. Against #1-ranked Rabun County, Brown tallied 157 rush yards and a TD, averaging 12 yards per tote. He collected 6 tackles (1 for loss), and broke up a pass. Brown was recently named a 5-star recruit and the #1 LB in the country for the class of 2024. This is already his third POW award.
