The #1-ranked Dragons rolled through winless Chestatee, and have locked up a home playoff game. There’s still a little work to be done to win that region title, but it’s almost automatic at this point. North Oconee is next up.

#2 RABUN COUNTY

#1 Rabun went to the Granite Bowl and went up 28-0 after just 5 minutes of play. They are playing phenomenal ball right now, and next up is Union County in a game that equals for Rabun a seventh straight region championship. If Union pulled off an upset, it would create a 3-way tie atop the region.

The #3-ranked Tigers had little problem putting Social Circle away, and have locked up a home playoff game. A win over Washington-Wilkes would be huge toward claiming a region title.

Dawson County fell by an eyelash to unbeaten and state-ranked Cherokee Bluff. It was a grueling loss that likely moves Dawson out of the region title conversation, although they are now playing for a home playoff game and #2 seed. Lumpkin County hosts the Tigers this week.

The Warriors got their starting QB J Ben Haynes back. He slung a few TD passes around the yard like he hadn’t missed a beat, and the Warriors are now 6-2 and one step closer to a playoff berth. Next up is Gilmer. A win and White County is assured the postseason.

#6 STEPHENS COUNTY

Stephens County was forced to call off the game against Hart County due to COVID cases on the team. It’s unclear if that is resolved in time for the matchup at #2-ranked Oconee. This one will be very difficult for the Indians.

#7 HABERSHAM CENTRAL

The Raiders also saw their game get canned, which is very disappointing as the reeling Central Gwinnett team would likely have been unable to beat Habersham. That would have sealed a playoff spot for the Raiders. The game has been slated for November 17 (a Tuesday), which would almost certainly not take place unless needed, since that would mean the Raiders play three days later in the playoffs. A true bye week is up next.

Towns County got a big-time shutout win, the first over a region opponent since 1998. Next up is Social Circle, which is a winnable game for the Indians.

Union County couldn’t find any luck at Rabun Gap, falling at home. Next up is a game that means more than most people know, as it pits the bitter rivals Union and Rabun against each other in the annual region title game being determined.
