The Region 8-AAAAAA Championship meet was Saturday, hosted by Winder-Barrow. The Raiders of Habersham Central came in fifth, missing state narrowly as a team.

However, senior Andrew Kivett raced an exact 16:00 mark to finish 12 seconds ahead of the next runner, taking the region crown. He will advance to state meet as an individual. Habersham’s Ryan Martin finished 11th.
