The Player of the Week Fan Vote notched 10,103 votes, with Stephens County’s Gamarion Carter (4,147) taking the top spot. BLITZ then picked Union’s Logan Helcher as Co-POW. For what it’s worth, Helcher also was the runner-up vote-getter with 3,846, though vote totals have no bearing on the BLITZ Pick.

GAMARION CARTER – FAN VOTE

Gamarion Carter had a monster, video-game like performance in a big-time rival win over Habersham Central. As the Indians rolled to a fourth straight win, Carter, a Liberty commit, hauled in 6 passes for 195 yards (32.5 yds/rec), and scored 2 TDs, including the game’s first score in the third quarter, which went for 65 yards. He added a 42-yd TD catch to cap the scoring.
Carter now has 527 receiving yards and 5 TD on the season, and 1,477 yds and 12 TD in his career. This is Carter’s second POW award of his career.

LOGAN HELCHER – BLITZ PICK

Logan Helcher has the distinction of being the fourth straight dual threat QB to emerge under coach Brian Allison at Union County. Helcher, a junior, continues a long line that includes Joseph Mancuso (Richmond), Cole Wright (Army), and Pierson Allison (Berry), all of who statistically were among state leaders each season.
Helcher is making a name for himself, and earns his first Player of the Week award after tallying 3 total TD and over 300 yards of offense. He passed for 172 and threw a TD, and ran for 144 and 2 TD. In 2020, Helcher has passed for 697 yards and 3 TD, and has 234 rushing yards and 4 TD.
