One-third through the season (doesn’t sound real, does it?), and we have enough info to establish a pretty good order of our teams that may prove to hold true throughout the rest of the season.

#1 JEFFERSON
LAST RANK: #1
RECORD: 3-0 (0-0)
LAST: W 40-7 vs Mountain View
NEXT: @ Hart County
The #2-ranked Dragons again rolled up a quick win, making that two of their three Ws coming in cruising fashion. Next up is on that road at Hart County.

#2 RABUN COUNTY
LAST RANK: #2
RECORD: 3-1 (0-0)
LAST: W 48-34 @ #9 Bremen
NEXT: BYE
#1 Rabun traveled to Bremen for yet another top-ten matchup, and came out with a big win. The offense was top-notch. The Cats surrendered a lot more points than we’re used to seeing, but Bremen has some great talent on that side of the ball, and came out with a gimmick offense that accounted for 13 of their early points. Gunner Stockton accounted for 7 total TDs, and Lang Windham had over 250 yards of offense.

#3 WHITE COUNTY
LAST RANK: #3
RECORD: 4-0 (0-0)
LAST: W 28-21 @ Habersham Central
NEXT: BYE
It’s 4-0 for the first time since 1975 for the #5-ranked Warriors. J Ben Haynes accounted for 3 TDs in a thrilling win over Habersham Central. The defense played very well in the win.
#4 HABERSHAM CENTRAL
LAST RANK: #4
RECORD: 2-1 (0-0)
LAST: L 21-28 vs #5 White County
NEXT: @ Stephens County
The Raiders have NO TIME to stress about the loss to #5 White County. It was a great game by both teams, and lots of positives. Particularly the Habersham defense, which is proving that it might be the best in the Benji Harrison-era. Next is the game everyone circles. Stephens County, the arch-rivals. After losing 23 in a row, the Raiders won it last year for the fist time in decades. Now, can the make it a multi-year streak of chalking one up in the win column?
#5 COMMERCE
LAST RANK: #5
RECORD: 3-1 (0-0)
LAST: W 55-28 vs Elbert County
NEXT: BYE
The #5-ranked Commerce Tigers blasted Elbert County to move to 3-1. That momentum they’ll take into the Bye Week before taking on Mt. Paran in a couple of weeks.
#6 STEPHENS COUNTY
LAST RANK: #6
RECORD: 3-1 (0-0)
LAST: W 44-13 vs Madison County
NEXT: vs Habersham Central
Stephens County has proven they’re here to stay. The Indians were throttled in the opener against White County, but have rebounded with three straight wins. It was a big-time W over Madison County, and now Habersham Central awaits in Week Five.

#7 DAWSON COUNTY
LAST RANK: #8
RECORD: 1-3 (0-0)
LAST: W 42-20 @ Northview
NEXT: BYE
Dawson County got a momentum-grabbing win over Northview to finally get in the win column. It’s been a really tough non-region slate, and the Tigers have now been battle-tested. They’ll regroup with a Bye Week and then get ready for a big-time showdown with White County (defacto region title game in Week Six).
#8 UNION COUNTY
LAST RANK: #7
RECORD: 1-2 (0-0)
LAST: Canceled vs George Walton (COVID)
NEXT: vs Pickens
Union’s game with George Walton was canceled due to COVID exposure at Union. Pickens is on deck, and rumor has it the Panthers picked up a game for Week 10 against Rabun Gap.
#9 TOWNS COUNTY
LAST RANK: #9
RECORD: 2-2 (0-0)
LAST: L 20-21 vs Mt. Zion (OT)
NEXT: @ Lakeview
Towns County dropped a heartbreaker 21-20 in overtime. The worst part is a failed PAT at the end of regulation sent it to overtime, so Towns was so close to a third straight win. They’ll focus next on Lee Shaw’s Lakeview team, and hit the road to Gainesville.

#10 BANKS COUNTY
LAST RANK: #10
RECORD: 1-3 (0-0)
LAST: W 37-0 @ Lumpkin County
NEXT: @ Fannin County
Banks County used a huge game from Roman Haynes and Jace Bennett to earn the first W of the season over Lumpkin. The defense and offense were firing on all cylinders. Next is Fannin County, again on the road.
#11 LUMPKIN COUNTY
LAST RANK: #11
RECORD: 0-3 (0-0)
LAST: L 0-37 vs Banks County
NEXT: @ St. Francis
Lumpkin County still seeks win number uno, and will travel to St. Francis to see if they can get something going.
