The Player of the Week Fan Vote notched 26,954 votes, with Stephens County’s Ben Stowe (9,214) taking the lion’s share. He edged out Commerce freshman Sammy Brown (8,013) for POW honors. BLITZ then picked Dawson County’s Jaden Gibson as Co-Player of the Week after a historic performance.

BEN STOWE – FAN VOTE

Sophomore QB Ben Stowe has emerged as a viable threat for the Indians’ offense. He’s a large reason why Stephens County is 2-1 on the season. He passed for 125 yards and a TD, and added 21 rushing yards and another TD in a win over 24-10 win over Jackson County. This is Stowe’s first Player of the Week award.

JADEN GIBSON – BLITZ PICK

It’s very seldom we see a receiver locally make it into the category of single game records. Jaden Gibson did. He recorded exactly 200 yards receiving in the loss to South Forsyth, piggy-backing off teammate Dakohta Sonnichsen, who had 211 in a game last season. Gibson hauled in 15 catches for 200 yards and 4 TD, AND added 9 tackles on defense!
Along with Gibson (200) and Sonnichsen (211), former Tiger Tucker Maxwell recorded a school-record 223 yards in a playoff game in 2015. This is Gibson’s second career POW award.
