A little more clarity comes each week of the season. With two weeks under our belts, here are the latest Power Rankings!

#1 RABUN COUNTY
LAST RANK: #1
RECORD: 2-0 (0-0)
LAST: W 38-31 vs #2 Prince Avenue Christian
NEXT: vs #2 Jefferson Dragons
#1-ranked Rabun made the most of an ESPN matchup against #2 Prince Avenue Christian. As BLITZ predicted, Gunner Stockton and Brock Vandagriff would have their highlights – and they did. But we also said the defense would make the difference, and it did. The Cats’ defense picked off Vandagriff three times, including twice by Cory Keller. Two of the picks led to 10 points. The last one sealed the win. Next up is #2-ranked Jefferson, and this one will be the toughest game all season for Rabun.
#2 JEFFERSON
LAST RANK: #2
RECORD: 1-0 (0-0)
LAST: W 61-7 vs Central Gwinnett
NEXT: @ #1 Rabun County
The Dragons, ranked #2 in the state, destroyed Central Gwinnett. It was 41-7 at the break, and Malaki Starks led JHS with three rushing TDs. Every yard in this game was tallied on the ground. Next up is Rabun County, a true #1-ranked opponent.

#3 WHITE COUNTY
LAST RANK: #3
RECORD: 2-0 (0-0)
LAST: W 50-47 @ #7 Hart County
NEXT: vs Pickens
It was a sensational road win for White County over a ranked opponent. The Warriors put up 50 for only the 12th time in school history, and for the first time since 2017 (when they did it twice). J Ben Haynes was absolutely stellar, scoring the winning TD with a minute to go. It’s the first 2-0 start since the 2017 season. Next up is Pickens, a 1-1 team that has had trouble finding the end zone.
#4 HABERSHAM CENTRAL
LAST RANK: #6
RECORD: 2-0 (0-0)
LAST: W 56-35 @ Apalachee
NEXT: BYE
The Raiders got a historic performance from Jackson Clouatre, who tallied a school record 305 rushing yards and scored 3 TD. Habersham played very well on offense, and did enough defensively to win the game. Hab Central goes 2-0 for the first time since 2016.
#5 COMMERCE
LAST RANK: #4
RECORD: 2-0 (0-0)
LAST: W 32-14 vs Union County
NEXT: @ #1 Athens Academy
The #7-ranked Tigers got a brilliant 32-14 win over Union last week, as freshman phenom Sammy Brown again showed out. Trey Huff was also great in the game. Commerce turns its attention to a road test at #1-ranked Athens Academy.
#6 DAWSON COUNTY
LAST RANK: #5
RECORD: 0-2 (0-0)
LAST: L 42-45 vs #7 Flowery Branch
NEXT: vs South Forsyth
Flowery Branch narrowly escaped Dawsonville with a thrilling 45-42 win. Zach Holtzclaw was solid for the Tigers, who drop to 0-2 for the first time since 2014, which was prior to the Sid Maxwell-era. Now Dawson turns its focus to South Forsyth in Week 3, which is a Class 7A opponent playing its first game of the season.

#7 STEPHENS COUNTY
LAST RANK: #8
RECORD: 1-1 (0-0)
LAST: W 34-0 vs North Hall
NEXT: @ Jackson County
Stephens blew all expectations out of the water with a shutout of North Hall that was nothing short of WOW! Gamarion Carter really showed out with 188 receiving yards and 2 TD. The win snapped a 10-game losing streak going back to Week 2 of 2019. It was the first shutout for the Indians since 2017 against Franklin County.
#8 UNION COUNTY
LAST RANK: #7
RECORD: 0-2 (0-0)
LAST: L 14-32 @ #7 Commerce
NEXT: vs Chestatee
Union traveled to Commerce and actually had a lead for much of the first half. Things fell apart late, as the Panthers continue to play without star senior running back Jonah Daniel, who MAY return late in the season. Next up is Chestatee, led by Christian Charles (one of the state’s top dual threat QBs).
#9 TOWNS COUNTY
LAST RANK: #11
RECORD: 1-1 (0-0)
LAST: W 28-14 vs Bethlehem Christian
NEXT: vs Lumpkin County
Towns County got their first win since 2018, snapping an 11-game losing streak. Kyle Oakes had 284 rushing yards and 4 TD to lead the charge. Next up, Lumpkin County.

#10 LUMPKIN COUNTY
LAST RANK: #10
RECORD: 0-1 (0-0)
LAST: BYE
NEXT: @ Towns County
Lumpkin County had a bye week to work on what happened against Franklin County. Now, the Indians play the Indians in Hiawassee on Friday night in Week 3.
#11 BANKS COUNTY
LAST RANK: #9
RECORD: 0-2 (0-0)
LAST: L 6-35 @ Franklin County
NEXT: vs East Jackson
Banks County had little going right against Franklin County, and are now 0-2 for the fifth time in the last eight seasons.
