White County’s Dasha Cannon took 8,613 votes to claim the ONE LAST FINALIST Fan Vote for Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year finalists. She joins Reid Kafsky (Tallulah Falls), teammate Rachel Lovell (White), Lauren Massey (Commerce), Anna Moore (Jefferson), Jada Pittman (Jefferson), and Zoey Sanchez (Union). 21,777 total votes came in, with Cannon beating out Shaylyn Bailey (Banks), who had 5,272.

Sanchez is the reigning Athlete of the Year after becoming a state champion last year in Track & Field long distance. Cannon is a Discus Region Champion & State 10th place finisher from last year.

Next up comes the voting by our internal panel to determine Player of the Year. This is done Heisman-style (each voter ranking the finalists) to determine the winner.
