Jefferson and Commerce are the usual suspects to win area/region, and go into the state tournament with a chance at yet another state championship.

Commerce won the Area 6 Dual Championship 64-18 over Athens Christian in the Quarterfinals round, then 54-17 over George Walton to secure the title. Those who earned wins by pin included Daniel Nash, Michael Sherman (2), TJ Trudnak, Brayden Phillips, and Jake Frates.

The Tigers advance to State Duals this coming weekend in Macon, where they will be going for their 7th consecutive State Duals Title in Class 1A.

Jefferson also won its area title (6-AAA) with a 44-18 victory over rivals Jackson County. Jefferson goes to state looking for a 19th consecutive Duals State Championship, a streak that goes back to 2002. Jefferson had won 18 straight Traditionals State Championships until it was snapped last year. All told, the Dragons have 37 state titles going into this one.
