
Six local baseball programs hit the diamond for the state playoffs this week. Here are the first round matchups.
South Paulding 2, Habersham Central Raiders 0
The Raiders (19-13) fell two games to none to South Paulding on the road in the 6A opener. Habersham fought hard but came up just short in the first game, 7-6. South Paulding went on to win the second game, 6-2.

Stephens Co Indians 1, LaGrange 1
The Indians (19-12-1) split the first two with LaGrange, falling 6-3 in the opener. Facing elimination, Stephens County rebounded with a convincing 12-3 victory to force the rubber match on Thursday.

Jefferson Dragons 1, Westminster 1
Jefferson (25-2) fell to Westminster 7-1 in the opening act, but bounced back with a 8-0 thumping to even the series and force a decisive game 3 on Thursday at 5 PM.

Callaway 2, Banks Co Panthers 0
The Leopards (22-8) fell in two games, 11-1 and 8-6 to Callaway on the road to wrap up their season. Banks County fought hard to resist being eliminated in the second game.
Bremen 2, Union Co Panthers 0
The Panthers (14-12) got off to a solid start with a 3-0 lead in the game one, but Bremen pounded out 11 unanswered runs for an 11-3 win in the opener. Bremen then earned a 9-2 win to clinch the series and end Union’s season.
