Jefferson and Dawson shined Saturday in the 3A State Meet, with both Jefferson boys and girls teams placing fifth and both Dawoson squads sixth.
In the boys’ run, Jefferson came in fifth behind the state runner-up finish by Riley Thornton (16:27). Dawson came in sixth, led by Ben McGinnis’ 9th-place, 17:00 run. Teammate Cody Wood was 14th.
In the girls’ 3A race, Jefferson’s fifth-place run was led by freshman Katherine Law’s 7th place finish (20:45), while Dawson’s sixth-place team was anchored by Frankie Muldoon, who was third overall with a 20:22. Jefferson’s Caitlin Schroeder was 9th overall.
Lumpkin’s girls came in 11th as a team, led by Abbie Hilchie, who came in 24th with a 22:06.
