Jefferson, Dawson and Lumpkin all fell in the second round of the 3A State Tournament, while advanced in the 3A bracket, as did Tallulah Falls in the 1A Private bracket. Rabun County (2A) faces Armuchee today.
CLASS 3A
DAWSON COUNTY
The Lady Tigers fell to #1 Calhoun in straight sets, 3-0 to close their season after a historic run.
JEFFERSON
The Lady Dragons fought til the very end, falling just short to a very good North Hall team, who is a #1 seed. Jefferson lost in five sets, 3-2 to close the storied season.
LUMPKIN COUNTY
The Lady Indians’ best run in program history ended with a 3-0 loss to Jackson County, and one of those sets came down to the wire.
CLASS 2A
RABUN COUNTY
RECORD: 18-18
SEEDING: #1 from Region 8-AA
RND 1: def #4 Drew Charter 3-0
SWEET 16: vs #3 Armuchee (14-15)
The Lady Cats volleyball program is almost quietly becoming an annual powerhouse. In 2013 the girls made state, but lost out on 2014. Since then, each season Rabun has made state, and they’ve made the Elite 8 in 2016, Sweet 16 in 2017 and back in the Sweet 16 here again in 2018. This could be the year the girls go even further.
CLASS 1A
TALLULAH FALLS
Tallulah Falls’ volleyball tradition is rich as of late, with three straight tourney appearances. This time ended sooner than the Lady Indians would like, with a 3-0 loss to Hebron Christian.
