While eight of our local softball teams made the playoffs, the first round proved to be the end of the road for five of them. The three left are Jefferson, Banks County and Commerce.
QUICK RECAP OF RND 1
Banks County – The Lady Leopards dominated in a decisive game three, 14-0 to escape an upset bid by Bremen.
Commerce – #2 seed in 1A private had a first round bye
Dawson County – The Lady Tigers dropped both against Calhoun by a combined 4-0 score.
Jefferson – No problems at all against Cedar Grove, a two-game sweep for the Lady Dragons.
Lumpkin County – A game one extra-inning loss was followed by a comeback win, but game three went in favor of Ringgold.
Stephens County – The Lady Indians took game one against Central, Carrolton, but lost the next two.
Union County – The Lady Panthers gave #1 seed Heard County a scare with a game one win, but dropped the final two games.
White County – LaFayette swept the Lady Warriors in two games.
