After yesterday’s non-football Players of the Week were named Emma Whitfield (softball) and Alexandra Shalikashvili (Habersham) it is announced today our final Player of the Week is Habersham Central senior shortstop Paige Cook.
PAIGE COOK

Cook earns her third career BLITZ Player of the Week award. If it seems like she’s been around for a long time, that’s because the highly-touted infielder has been a mainstay for the Lady Raiders for quite some time.
The Mississippi State commit (since her sophomore year) is batting .524 so far this season, driving in 9 RBI and collecting three triples and a double while playing solid defense, as usual.
She’s well on pace to damage her stats set last year as a junior, in which she hit .485 AVG (33/68) with 3 HR, 16 RBI, 6 2B, 3B, 22 R, 9 SB, and only 3 strikeouts all season.
The Lady Raiders are 4-2 to begin the year and 1-1 in region play. Stephanie Thomas’ girls look to make the playoffs for the first time since 2013. That’s the one thing missing from Cook’s resume, as the Lady Raiders have gone 25-45 in her three seasons entering 2018.
