CLASS 4A

A little deja vu for the Craig family and White County girls golf. Catie Craig, the freshman phenom, won the Class 4A State Championship with a 2-over 74 in one round of play. Tuesday’s second round was canceled due to weather. We saw this exact movie last year.

Only that time, it was junior sister Caroline Craig, a UGA commit, who won after ending round one as the leader in 2017’s state tournament. Round two last year was also canceled due to rain.

Two sisters, two state titles, back-to-back seasons for White County. Caroline Craig finished sixth with a 7-over 79. The Craig sisters led the Lady Warriors golf team to a third place finish, just a stroke shy of second place Central, Carroll.

Also in Class 4A, Stephens County’s girls team finished 11th, led by Andi Brock’s 32nd place finish. For the boys’ 4A tournament, White County’s Jacob Adams (the lone representative) shot an 87, good for 79th. Luke Thomas (Stephens County) finished 44th.

CLASS 3A

Jeremiah Crumley, the lone Dawson County boys representative, finished 26th after a second round 82, which came after round one’s 79. He finished at +17.

Dawson’s Sydney Morgan led the Lady Tigers with a 15th place finish individually, ending at 31-over with an 86 in day one and 89 in day two.

CLASS 2A

Rabun County’s girls team took fourth after carding a 360 total score. Journey Quilliams (+35) led with an 11th place finish, while Carrie Beck was 15th overall. The Rabun boys were represented by Sam Speed, who came in 21st with a +22. He shot much better in round two (80) than the opening round on Monday (86).

Banks County’s Luke Gosnell was the lone representative for the Leopards, and finished 13th at 20-over.

CLASS 1A PUBLIC

Towns County boys came in third, led by Chase Williams’ 7th place finish. He shot a 75 after carding a 79 on Monday, ending just 10-over. The Commerce boys came in 9th as a team, and were led by Josh Campbell (12th; +19).

The Commerce girls were also third in the final standings, carding a 344 overall. McKenzie McRee’s third place finish propelled the Lady Tigers to a solid finish, as she carded a 27-over 171 over two days, just two strokes shy of second place. Cameron Ford (7th), Kristin Tash (8th) and Autumn Mathis (10th) all helped Commerce tremendously.

CLASS 1A PRIVATE

Tallulah Falls’ girls came in fourth in 1A public at +43 overall. Round two on Tuesday was canceled due to rain. Brinson Hall (10th) and Jenny Wang (15th) led the Lady Indians. Hall was 18-over while Wang finished 25-over.
