The Lumpkin County Lady Indians cruised to a 2-0 win in the opening round of the 3A State Playoffs. Don Brock’s Lady Indians (12-4-1) were the third seed out of the tough region 7-AAA, and went up against Morgan County on the road.
Lumpkin got out to a quick start on a goal by McKenzie Tatum in the fourth minute. The 1-0 lead held until just under five to play in the first half, when Tatum found Morgan Fagan, who found the back of the net to stretch the lead to 2-0.
The defense was phenomenal as usual, securing the clean sheet with a scoreless second half. The girls have allowed just 13 goals in total on the season, and have eight shutouts on the year.
