Dawson Sorrells’ 2018 season has been even better than his 2017 campaign…which is hard to believe. As well documented, the Stephens County Indians are making history this season.

Want the numbers? Sorrells has them…5-0 record with a 1.58 ERA, striking out 31 in as many innings. At the plate…batting .351 (20-for-57) with five doubles, 15 RBI and 13 runs scored.

In comparison, Sorrells was 9-2 (1 save) on the mound last season with a slightly higher ERA (1.72), fanning 51 batters in 65 innings. He tallied one homerun and 17 RBI to the tune of a .303 batting average, scoring 19 runs and notching five doubles.

The nine wins might be hard to match, but it’s not out of the question as he’s already over halfway there with plenty of games left on the slate. The ERA is 14 points lower, and his K/IP rate is much higher than a year ago. Same can be said at the plate for his numbers…the average is nearly 50 points higher, and he’s only two RBI short of last year’s total, and six runs shy.
